EATING DISORDER

THERAPY IN NYC

Here’s the reality: our society makes it virtually impossible to not have a complicated relationship with food and our bodies. Social media only amplifies the images and messages telling us we’re not good enough, thin enough, or “insert word here” enough. When it comes to diet culture, we’ve had ENOUGH.

If you feel controlled by rigid food rules, stuck in cycles of dieting, overwhelmed by thoughts about your body, or relying on eating disorder behaviors to cope with stress, you’re not alone. Through our years as eating disorder therapists, we’ve witnessed how exhausting, overwhelming, and disconnecting this can feel.

Fortunately, there is a way out!

It is possible to free yourself from eating disorder behaviors and move toward a life that feels more fulfilling, meaningful, and aligned with your truest values. We’ve seen this happen time and time again. You don’t have to go through this alone — we’re here to help you heal.

WHO WE SUPPORT

We support adults, adolescents, and teens navigating:

  • Anorexia

Eating disorders often coexist with Anxiety, Depression, Substance Use, OCD, Mood Disorders, and PTSD/C-PTSD. Our therapists are experienced in working with these complexities and will integrate appropriate support as needed.

Eating Disorder Specialists

Our team is made up of eating disorder specialists. Prior to founding Body Liberation Collective, Courtney Daniels worked as a primary therapist at a top eating disorder treatment center in Manhattan and received advanced training through the Center for Body Trust as a Certified Body Trust Provider (CBTP).

All clinicians at our practice have advanced training in eating disorders and extensive experience supporting clients across PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care. When it comes to eating disorder treatment, it’s essential to work with therapists who are specifically trained in this field.

We Get To The Root of The Problem

We believe eating disorder behaviors developed for a reason. Maybe they once helped you cope, feel safe, communicate needs, or create a sense of control during overwhelming times. Letting go of these strategies can feel impossible.

In our work together, we’ll explore the role your eating disorder has played, identify alternative ways to get your needs met, and gently dismantle what’s no longer serving you so you can move toward a life that feels more authentic, grounded, and aligned with your values.

Individualized, Evidence-Based Care

At Body Liberation Collective, we honor your unique journey. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Our work is grounded in evidence-based care and delivered through a body liberation and weight-inclusive lens.

Our therapists draw from:

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Enhanced CBT (CBT-E)

  • DBT-informed approaches

  • ACT

  • Mentalization-Based Narrative Exposure Therapy (MBNET)

  • NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM)

We tailor our approach based on your needs, history, and goals.

Health at Every Size & Body Trust

All eating disorder treatment at Body Liberation Collective is rooted in Health at Every Size and Body Trust principles. We honor body diversity and take an explicitly anti-diet stance in our work.

  • We are an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. However, many clients are able to use their out-of-network mental health benefits for partial reimbursement.

If you’re hoping to use insurance, we recommend contacting your provider and asking:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • What is my deductible (the amount I need to pay before coverage kicks in)?

    • What is my co-insurance (the percentage covered after my deductible is met)?

    • How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

If your insurance company asks for a billing code, you can let them know that we bill sessions using CPT code 90837.

After each session, we’re happy to provide a superbill for you to submit directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

  • Our fees range from $225–$300 per session, depending on the clinician you work with.
