Body Image & Disordered
Eating Therapy
WESTCHESTER + NYC + VIRTUAL

Not everyone who struggles with food has an eating disorder, and not everyone who needs help has a diagnosis. Some people come to us because food runs their life: years of dieting, rules they didn’t choose, a cycle of “being good” and giving up that never ends. Others come because their body does: they can’t look in a mirror without a verdict, they skip the beach and the photo and the doctor, and eating “normally” hasn’t made them feel at home in their skin. Many come for both.

At Body Liberation Collective, eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image are all we treat. We see adults in person in Scarsdale, NY and virtually across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

What This Can Look Like

  • Dieting, “resetting,” or “being good” for years, with always a next one

  • Feeling out of control around certain foods, so you keep them out of the house, then eat them anyway

  • Knowing the calorie count of most things without trying, and wishing you didn’t

  • Your mood, your plans, and your sense of yourself rising and falling with the scale or the mirror

  • Avoiding things because of your body: photos, swimming, dating, the doctor, clothes that fit

  • A body that changed, after a baby, an illness, an injury, a weight change in either direction, and a self that hasn’t caught up to it

  • Being treated differently because of your size, by doctors, family, or strangers, and carrying it as your own fault

  • Trying intuitive eating from a book and having it fall apart

If a few of these sound familiar, that’s enough. You don’t need to be in crisis to deserve help, and you don’t need to prove it’s bad enough. You just need to want it to be different.

Most people live with some version of this and assume it’s normal. It’s common. It isn’t the same as normal, and it doesn’t have to be permanent.

How We Work

Line drawing of masculine person with short sleeve shirt and pants

We will never make your body the problem. No diets, no weight loss plans. Our work is rooted in Health at Every Size® and Body Trust®, and we draw on evidence-based approaches including CBT-E, tailored to you.

The work is about your relationship with food and your body, not their measurements: where the rules came from and what they’ve been protecting you from; the checking, comparing, and avoiding that keep body distress alive; what you’ve absorbed from doctors, family, and a culture that never let you be; and what you’d do with the energy if food and your body stopped taking all of it.

Affirming and Inclusive Care

Our care is weight-inclusive, LGBTQ+ affirming, anti-diet, and trauma-informed. If part of you still wants to be smaller, you’re welcome here; we won’t argue you out of it, and we won’t help you pursue it. We’ll work with that ambivalence honestly, because it’s where most of this work begins.

Getting Started

Every client begins with a free 15-minute consultation. You’ll tell us what’s been going on, we’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit, and if we are, we’ll match you with a clinician and get you on the calendar.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes, typically weekly

  • In person in Scarsdale Village, serving Westchester including Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Bronxville, White Plains, Rye, and Harrison

  • Virtual across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut

  • When it helps, we’ll connect you with a weight-inclusive dietitian who works the way we do
